The JOIN Board meets online

The Board of Johanniter International met online to discuss the current situation and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on JOIN activities. Participants were our Chairman Johannes Bucher (Johanniter Austria), our Vice-Chairman Christian Velten-Jameson (Association des Œuvres de Saint-Jean), Mark Broughton (St John Ambulance England and The Islands), Hubertus von Puttkamer (Johanniter Germany) and Lidwien van der Reep (Johanniter Nederland).

The organisation of the JOIN Annual General Meeting (AGM), originally planned this May in Cyprus, was the first topic to be discussed. In order to comply with the Belgian law, the Board took the following decisions:

  • To hold online a short and formal AGM on 12th June. JOIN delegates will be contacted in the next days with further information.
  • If circumstances allow, to hold the meeting planned in Cyprus in October.

The Board meeting continued with comprehensive financial information by our Vice-Chairman. The JOIN Office gave feedback on the working groups’ activities, including the regular update of our members’ activities to face the pandemic.

Concerning the Volunteer Swap, various coming events were unfortunately either cancelled or postponed, and St John volunteers are invited to visit the Volunteer Swap website regularly. Finally, an update was provided on the implementation of the European projects SecureHospitalsEUinAid and iProcureSecurity.
